Ettore Caselli started his career in 1964 at Banco S. Geminiano e S. Prospero. After becoming an executive in 1971, he took on increasing responsibilities as the Manager of some of the Bank's key branches until July 1984, when he joined Banca Popolare di Cavezzo as Vice General Manager. He became General Manager in October 1986.
In May 1987, after the Bank was merged into Banca Popolare dell'Emilia, he was appointed Management Representative and Head of the Lending Department. In May 1992, he became Vice Central Manager and the head of the Romagna Area Department.
Then, starting from 1995, he served as Central Manager, Vice General Manager, and eventually, from July 2003 to December 2007, General Manager.
In October 2009, he became the Bank's Vice Chairman.
He has been the Chairman of BPER's Board of Directors since 18th January 2011.
In 2012, he was made Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
Currently, he serves as the Chairman of Assopopolari – the National Association of Italian Cooperative Banks; Board Member of ABI – the Italian Banking Association; Vice Chairman of ICBPI – Istituto Centrale delle Banche Popolari Italiane S.p.A.; and Chairman of ICBPI's Consultation Agreement.
